EGG ☁︎ CLOUDS

Get ready to take a walk on the sunny side!

First, let’s chat about eggs. They are so easy right? Buy them by the dozen, last for a while in the fridge, and are totally versatile. Baked, broiled, poached, scrambled, boiled, sunny side up, over easy. While they are always good in the morning, I am guilty for loving to have breakfast for dinner. The list on the ways to use eggs is endless. I am not even going there. They taste delicious and are a go to for many families! While I do not have children of my own, I am all about educating kids on the foods they eat, and involving them in the kitchen! A healthy lifestyle is a more obvious choice if our children grow up aware and educated on the things they put into their bodies! Eggs are a fairly low calorie choice, and contain vitamins and minerals.

On the flip side.. Eggs do tend to get slack. Firstly, the inhumane conditions of mass production (which is something that I totally understand, and do not condone or promote). Secondly, the nutritional value of eggs can be somewhat confusing. Are they good for us? Or aren’t they? Well.. opinions differ, but facts are facts. So, let’s just be honest..

The way that the animals are raise truly do effect us. What they eat, and how they live in turn, goes into our systems. From over crowding and lack of free movement, to the use of antibiotics, stimulants, steroids, or hormones, researchers do not know the long term effects that eating the animals raised in these conditions will have on us. To be on the safe side, I recommend choosing a free-range, natural or organic option. This way, we know that they were raised eating non-chemical food with the antibiotics, stimulants, steroids, and hormones left out and that they were free to move around and get the exercise they need to grow healthy and happy. Happy chickens means happy eggs! (And to be clear, this applies to all mass production of all animals, not just chickens! If you choose to eat animal products, be sure to buy organic whenever possible!)

So are they good for us? I get this question a lot because yes, they are high in protein, but they are also high in cholesterol. Research suggests, if your regular diet is not high in fat, then eating eggs on the regular does not greatly raise your total cholesterol. But, there is a catch.. if you have a cholesterol problem, or cardiovascular issues, any foods that contain fat should be only consumed after careful deliberation. Okay, with my little egg rant out of the way, we can get to the reason you came here.

Egg Clouds, as I call them, although they do have other names, you guys they really are a fun option to jazz up your morning. They are also kid friendly – just make sure an adult is supervising around the oven! They are very easy to make, and can be personalized however you, or your kids prefer. You can make a small batch, or large batch. I find they are awesome when cooking for company because it can sometimes be hard to cook eggs for a large number of people, and have them all done at the same time! Plus, it’s always fun to serve something a little different!..So let’s get started.

EGG CLOUDS

WHAT YOU NEED:
Eggs
Grated Cheese
Extras: Chives or green onion, bacon, small sausage pieces..etc.
Ground pepper (+Sea salt if you like)

NOTES: *The quantities for the above ingredients will vary on how many eggs you are making, however – If I am using 4 eggs, I use approx 1/4 cup of each extra – up to about 3/4 of a cup in total, but go by personal preference if you want more or less of one of them. I also recommend using cheese that has a lower moisture % so that it doesn’t make the eggs runny. Any extras that I add in, besides the grated cheese, I cut into a very fine dice, technically called “Brunoise”

WHAT TO DO:
*Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

1.Separate your egg whites from the yolks. When you do this, put all whites into a large bowl, and your yolks into SEPARATE small bowls, making sure to not break the yolk as you are separating.

2.Next, whip your egg whites until stiff peaks form.

3.At this point, fold in your cheese and extras.

4.Spoon your egg whites onto your baking sheet, and create a little divot, or well, in the middle of each mound.

5.Bake for 3 – 4 minutes. Remove from oven.

img_0795

6. Carefully add an egg yolk to each divot/well.

img_0797

7.Season with pepper (and sea salt if you please)
8.Bake for 2 – 3 minutes, or until the egg yolks are set. – Keep an eye on them so they don’t get firm, unless that’s your thing!

Enjoy these gems! They are great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner! Don’t forget to let me know how you like them and what extras you love to add! I love seeing your takes on my recipes so make sure you tag me @missbhay so I can see your egg clouds!

Disclaimer: Some of the photos show with cheese and chives, and some show with just cheese. I had made a large batch of plain cheese at an earlier time, and made one at another time with chives added.

POLLEN; Illuminating Mist

When I am thinking about trying a new product, the first thing I do is read the ingredients list. I know that seems weird to some people, but I truly believe in being aware and knowing exactly what you are.. or are no way in hell.. putting on your skin.

img_0653

When I read the ingredients list on the H is for Love – POLLEN Illuminating Mist, I had really high expectations. Every single thing that goes into this bottle has numerous benefits to your skin. Every. Single. Thing you guys. Nothing is a filler. Not one thing. Knowing that, I was expecting my skin to love it. I was expecting my skin to drink that shit up like no tomorrow. I expected my face to be calm, balanced, glowing, hydrated, and dewy. Nothing less. I was probably most excited to try this mist. I waited very impatiently for it to arrive. And when it did. It blew every expectation that I had out of the water. I, one time, did not reorder before my bottle ran out, and let me tell you that I will never, ever, evvvvverrr make that mistake again.

POLLEN has found it’s forever home.

I use it after I use the RAPHA Cleanser. Just a light spray after I remove the cleanser with a warm cloth. It feels so refreshing. If you feel like you’re a little extra, you can also use it again after you use the Nourishing Face Oil, or to set your makeup. (Just make sure you use it before you put your mascara on!) I also will use a spray if I need a pick me up throughout my day!

Scott has used it when his beard gets itchy, or after he shaves. And the first time he was skeptical. I mean, I basically had to sneak attack him in between his itching. He is not a “skin care routine kinda guy”, even being with me and having tons of products around, you’d think the opposite..so  if he is sold, that is saying a lot!

In one bottle they have managed to jam pack all of these ingredients that your skin is just dying to drink up!

Rose Hydrosol: The base of this beautiful product. Rose Hydrosol has so many great benefits. Balances the pH level of your skin. Hydrates. It has anti-inflammatory AND anti-oxidant properties, which means it relieves + calms redness while the astringent like properties will help to clean + tighten your pores.

100% Fractionally Distilled Aloe Vera: I actually searched on their ingredients list on their website to see if they explained what 100% Fractionally Distilled meant because I did not really understand it myself, and they explain it perfectly as “fractionally distilled to isolate only the most beneficial strain of this organically grown aloe.” Aloe is great for your skin. Nourishing. Moisturizing. Soothing. Healing. Antibacterial. Antiseptic. Anti-inflammatory. The list goes on.. and on.. and on.. and on. I won’t include it all here just trust me, and thank me later.

Witch Hazel Extract: A natural astringent – thanks to the tannins – will help to remove excess oils from your skin.

Colloidal Silver; (do not use if you are allergic to silver): Super anti-bacterial. Super effective.

Vegetable Glycerine: Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Vegetable glycerine is derived from plant seed oils. When it becomes mixed, or used with natural oils, or other ingredients, it will seal the moisture on the top layer of your skin, letting the other ingredients work their magic underneath, deep down in your pores, undisturbed. That gorgeous, plump, hydrated, glowing, dewy look you have? ..Oh, you can blame that on this ingredient.

Essential Oils of; Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium: Essential oils contain all types of good vibes for your skin.”H IS FOR LOVE uses only the highest quality essential oils that are the product of steam distillation or CO2 extraction. We believe these oils to be safest for use on the skin.” – H is For Love Ingredients List

If you want your skin to love you forever and always, you can check out POLLEN on the H is for Love Website to order or to find a stockist close to you!

RAPHA; HARMONIZING OIL CLEANSER

I wont lie. I have always been a foaming cleanser type of girl so when I switched to the H is for Love line, I was a little hesitant of the RAPHA Cleanser. I had heard of oil cleansers..and thought about them once in a while.. but with my tricky skin and frequent breakouts I was nervous about putting more oil onto my skin. But..after much thought, and going back and forth.. I did it. I rubbed that oil all over my face, thinking, how in the hell is this even doing anything?.. And even kind of side-eyeing my shelf in the process to see what I was going to use afterwards to actually clean my face. Well, awkward for me.. because I was totally wrong!

img_0237

You. Guys. This stuff is amazing. Like.. and not just a little bit amazing.. how do I describe it in a way you will understand?.. This stuff is.. the bee’s knees.. the creme of the crop.. THE BEST FUCKING CLEANSER I HAVE EVER USED! My skin feels so clean, hydrated, and like it is ready for anything.

The true test came after a night out, where I.. *yes I barely can believe it myself* wore a full face of makeup *you know the three coats of mascara, night of dancing, sweating, and consuming endless drinks.. drill*.. At that point I was thinking alright it’s been great, but there is no way this oil is going to dissolve through this mess.. WRONG AGAIN BRITTANY! Not only did it completely dissolve away, but my eye makeup came off so easily with a swipe of a warm cloth! I have never found something to remove my eye makeup with such a gentle touch. Cue: It’s a whooooole neeeewww woooorrrrllllld!

This cleanser screams good vibes. Considering the bottle is jam packed with olive, hemp seed, and pumpkin seed oils, along with chamomile and essential oils, you just can’t go wrong. Rapha has totally changed my outlook on cleansers. It’s like you can feel the impurities just melting away!

Not only can I find peace in knowing that this cleanser is great for my skin, but the team behind these products are even more amazing. I do not know them personally, I know nothing about their personal lives, or their childhood, or what they even did last week – and in fact – maybe I am wrong and they are all awful people. I. AM. JUST. KIDDING! In the short time I have been in touch with Bee (how funny that she is also B (with ees’), and her team, they have been nothing but exceptional. They are so knowledgeable, friendly, passionate, and always go above and beyond. Plus, their Insta page is sort of to die for, and they are all mega bombshells.

STRAIGHT FROM THE H IS FOR LOVE WEBSITE, SO I DONT MESS IT UP! –

A combination of oils and essential oils which, when blended in perfect measure, prepare you for waking and for slumbering. RAPHA’s foundation infuses nutrient-rich oils with herbs complimented by antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and highly soothing essential oils, giving skin a pathway to health and framework for vitality.

W I L D ❁ D A I S I E S

The daisy. White and yellow. Two flowers in one. Simple. Underrated. Uncomplicated. Overlooked. Innocent. Sophisticated.

Packing a serious punch.

Yes, for real.. technically speaking you get a two for one deal with these little beauties. “Ray Florets”…the white petals are one.. and the tiny little yellow clustered disc florets as the second. They are the perfect symbol of innocence and purity. They grow wild and free, but are also great your gardens and planters. Not only do they look pretty, but they are jam packed with goodness for your insides and outs!

I love love love daisies! They grow wild at the lake and it’s beautiful! They just make my day. A field of daisies.. is there anything more pretty? Well.. to be honest, yes.. but we are appreciating the small things here people.

Usually referred to as Bellis perennis on an ingredients list, you can find Daisy extract in a bunch of skin care products! Active ingredients can be found in all the different parts of the plant! These include essential oil, tannins, mucous substances, flavonoids, bitter substances, organic acids, resins, and inulin.

These little gems contain high amounts of antioxidants and organic acids that can brighten your skin, and attack the free-radicals from your day. It is a valuable ingredient in exfoliation (and great for sensitive skin) due to being high in malic and tartaric acids.

You can also apply topically for eczema, dermatitis, and rashes!

Daisies have anti-inflammatory and mild astringent properties in them, which is awesome for applying topically to small scrapes, or sores. When you drink daisy tea, it can help relive symptoms from your cold, bronchitis, and other inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. It can also be helpful with the digestive system, having stimulating effects and being used for ailments of the digestive tract.

The list of ailments that these little gems may help with is to long for me to go on about it all.. so if there is something specific you are wondering about, I would recommend finding a qualified professional to guide you.

Also, this article contains more information!

The greens and petals can be used in the kitchen too! They can be eaten raw or cooked. Leaves, flowers, buds, petals can all be used. You’ll want to add them to your soups and salads!

Not only good for your outsides, but even better for your insides!
