POLLEN; Illuminating Mist

When I am thinking about trying a new product, the first thing I do is read the ingredients list. I know that seems weird to some people, but I truly believe in being aware and knowing exactly what you are.. or are no way in hell.. putting on your skin.

When I read the ingredients list on the H is for Love – POLLEN Illuminating Mist, I had really high expectations. Every single thing that goes into this bottle has numerous benefits to your skin. Every. Single. Thing you guys. Nothing is a filler. Not one thing. Knowing that, I was expecting my skin to love it. I was expecting my skin to drink that shit up like no tomorrow. I expected my face to be calm, balanced, glowing, hydrated, and dewy. Nothing less. I was probably most excited to try this mist. I waited very impatiently for it to arrive. And when it did. It blew every expectation that I had out of the water. I, one time, did not reorder before my bottle ran out, and let me tell you that I will never, ever, evvvvverrr make that mistake again.

POLLEN has found it’s forever home.

I use it after I use the RAPHA Cleanser. Just a light spray after I remove the cleanser with a warm cloth. It feels so refreshing. If you feel like you’re a little extra, you can also use it again after you use the Nourishing Face Oil, or to set your makeup. (Just make sure you use it before you put your mascara on!) I also will use a spray if I need a pick me up throughout my day!

Scott has used it when his beard gets itchy, or after he shaves. And the first time he was skeptical. I mean, I basically had to sneak attack him in between his itching. He is not a “skin care routine kinda guy”, even being with me and having tons of products around, you’d think the opposite..so  if he is sold, that is saying a lot!

In one bottle they have managed to jam pack all of these ingredients that your skin is just dying to drink up!

Rose Hydrosol: The base of this beautiful product. Rose Hydrosol has so many great benefits. Balances the pH level of your skin. Hydrates. It has anti-inflammatory AND anti-oxidant properties, which means it relieves + calms redness while the astringent like properties will help to clean + tighten your pores.

100% Fractionally Distilled Aloe Vera: I actually searched on their ingredients list on their website to see if they explained what 100% Fractionally Distilled meant because I did not really understand it myself, and they explain it perfectly as “fractionally distilled to isolate only the most beneficial strain of this organically grown aloe.” Aloe is great for your skin. Nourishing. Moisturizing. Soothing. Healing. Antibacterial. Antiseptic. Anti-inflammatory. The list goes on.. and on.. and on.. and on. I won’t include it all here just trust me, and thank me later.

Witch Hazel Extract: A natural astringent – thanks to the tannins – will help to remove excess oils from your skin.

Colloidal Silver; (do not use if you are allergic to silver): Super anti-bacterial. Super effective.

Vegetable Glycerine: Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Vegetable glycerine is derived from plant seed oils. When it becomes mixed, or used with natural oils, or other ingredients, it will seal the moisture on the top layer of your skin, letting the other ingredients work their magic underneath, deep down in your pores, undisturbed. That gorgeous, plump, hydrated, glowing, dewy look you have? ..Oh, you can blame that on this ingredient.

Essential Oils of; Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium: Essential oils contain all types of good vibes for your skin.”H IS FOR LOVE uses only the highest quality essential oils that are the product of steam distillation or CO2 extraction. We believe these oils to be safest for use on the skin.” – H is For Love Ingredients List

If you want your skin to love you forever and always, you can check out POLLEN on the H is for Love Website to order or to find a stockist close to you!

Also guys, with all of the shit that people try to sell you, that are being intertwined with our social media, and every single thing you click on bringing up more and more ads online these days to make money I feel like I need to tell you this: I am in no way being paid for writing about this product. I do not make any type of commission off of telling you about it, or trying to “sell” you on it. If you buy it, that’s great, but it does not benefit to me at all, except in my KARMA bank, which is a REAL THING PEOPLE! I really do enjoy this product so much, and wanted to share the love! It makes me so happy to share wonderful products that I find with you and this line just might be the best yet!

#DIYSKINCARE: Avocado Face Masks

It’s that time of the year again! The time where Mother Nature is off her meds, and shit is hitting the fan! Plus 15 outside and sunny all week.. this morning we wake up to a winter wonderland.. WTF!? My skin is super impressed by this.. NOT! While it’s good to use products on your skin depending on what it requires at different times of the year, when it’s like this outside, it’s easy to have no clue! These two face masks will give your skin a break and love after the winter.. (or during a snowfall in April!)

I am always a fan of skin care that comes from your fridge. It makes me feel good that I can pronounce the ingredients, and I know exactly what is going on my skin.

Try these out and let me know what you think! If you feel a tingle from the apple cider, don’t freak out.

*NOTE: Do not try these if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you are sensitive to the mask, rinse immediately. I always recommend doing a patch test before applying to your entire face.

Light, bright, & hydrated!

1/2 Avocado – mashed up
2 TBSP Honey (Raw, organic)
1 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar (Raw, organic)
1 Tsp Lemon Juice

Mix it all up. Slap it all on! Well.. maybe don’t slap it on… but slather that goodness all over your face.. watch 15-20 min of your favourite guilty pleasure tv show, or lay back and ponder life.. rinse away with warm water.. follow with your go-to toner and moisturizer!

Calm down, skin!
Exfoliate, hydrate, and calm your skin with this one!

1/2 Avocado – mashed up
1 TBSP Honey (Raw, organic)
2 TBSP Oatmeal (Uncooked)

Same instructions as above, except one note; Once your mask has set, use warm water to rinse. The oats will exfoliate your dry, dead skin away during your rinse!

Happy Saturday!

There are so many reasons that this tea is great for your skin, so I will try to not to take too much time giving you the low down! Let me tell you a secret or two about the 6 main ingredients in this heavenly mix..

Let’s get to the good stuff..

Cinnamon: Besides the fact that cinnamon just tastes soooo good! ESPECIALLY on toast! (c’mon who’s with me!?)..it actually does wonderful things for your skin! It’s great to use cinnamon for acne and eczema treatments. It can help to improve your complexion and skin tone. It also helps to “reduce the signs of aging” (yes, it’s in quotes because I mean really, I cant say that it is going to take off 10 years or anything!) What I DO mean by this is that cinnamon plumps your skin, which in turn, MAY reduce signs of agings by plumping some of your fine lines.

Rose Hips: These babies are jam packed with antioxidants! They contain a high amount of vitamin A, which is you don’t already know is one of the best vitamins for your skin. Another vitamin that is great for your skin, well….besides like all of them, is vitamin C! And, you’re in luck! because rose hips are so high in vitamin C that they contain 50% more than you’d find in an orange!

Nettle Leaf: A great treatment for acne prone skin. May also help with the appearance of blemishes and scars! Nettle leaf also contains astringent properties that may help with eczema.

Rooibos: Packed with zinc, vitamin D, rooibos neutralizes the free radicals, and promotes “healthy skin” producing cells! And tastes absolutely delicious in my cup.

Rose Petals: LOVE rose petals on my skin, in my bath, in my tea, on my face, love them! They have so many benefits including, soothe irritated skin and able to reduce redness. They can help with tired/puffy eyes and ridding of dark circles! Another awesome thing about these little gems is that there are natural oils in rose that helps your skin maintain moisture!

Marigold: Anti-septic, anti-inflammatory, & anti-bacterial properties that are present in marigold make it a great treatment for your skin! I know it sounds like a lot of Anti-‘s, but trust me, when it comes to marigold for your skin, you should definitely be PRO!

*Note: It is always best to do a test patch on your skin before using any type of new product or treatment to ensure you don’t have any reactions! You don’t want to find out the hard way once you have plastered your face with something new!

You can check out this tea on the David’s Tea website.. here

Okay, let’s be honest.. It’s Monday of the long weekend so this is going to be brief! I promise I will be back tomorrow to fill you in on all of the juicy bits about this tea though, so make sure you catch part 2 of this one!

My first go-to tea facial, and probably the one that I do the most is using “The Glow”, from David’s Tea (check it out HERE). Not only is this one of my favorite go-to skin products, it’s one of my favorite go-to’s for drinking! It tastes SO good! Anyway, back to what you came here for.. It’s great at the end of a long day, or when you find your skin is feeling “sluggish.” It’s so refreshing on your skin! The second it touches your skin, you can just feel all the good things happening!

I will chat with you tomorrow about other brands of tea that will give you similar results, and why this mask makes your skin feel so good because there are a TON of reasons why, but for now..

I brew a VERY strong batch of “The Glow” tea, then once it is suuuper dark, not just a few minutes brew.. but like a “EW! I would never drink that!” kinda dark! I cut strips of paper towel and dip them into the tea.. this will help them stick to your face.. then I put the strips all over my face (one across my forehead/eyes, one down each side & cheek, one across lip/chin, and one on neck), then LAY DOWN! If you try to wear this while you do something else, or be upright in general… your paper towels may start to fall off! It’s a very good excuse to just put them on and take a well deserved break! Lay back, breathe, and just enjoy a good relax!

Secret: I have also been known to double dip those strips, and redo this mask a couple times in a row for an extra boost!

You can store this mask in your fridge for a couple of days, and that way you can do this mask a couple times a week and the next time it’s all ready to go! After it’s been in the fridge and gets nice and cold, it feels amazing on tired/sore eyes!

Another secret: When I run out of face toner, When I want my skin to look and feel amazing, I use this! I know it might sound crazy, but it really does make your skin feel SO good! People pay big bucks for a rosehip toner!

Coffee.. for more than just your mug!

I don’t know what it is, but I love using items from my fridge on my skin. Maybe it is because I like to know exactly what is going on to my skin, or because I see less stuff being tossed into the garbage can.. either way, more often than not you can open our fridge and find tiny jars or containers of my secret potions stashed in their own little area. (We decided on giving them their own area after we had a mishap with someone thinking my avocado face mask was gaucamole!!..however, the recipe is not far off so it could have been MUCH worse!)

At this time of year I am especially obsessed with them because this cold weather just dries you out so much! If you make your own coffee in the morning, than this first one is for you! I love to wake up to a cup of coffee, but instead of throwing out the coffee grounds, I pitch them into a tupperware container.. add a few more ingredients, and take them to the shower with me! This scrub can be messy so it’s best to do it while standing in the bath tub, before you turn the shower on.. that way you can get messy, and just rinse it all away and continue on with your shower! Make sure that you are washing this down your drain with LOTS of hot water, because while I have not personally experienced this, I have heard of some people having drain issues due to the coconut oil hardening once it cools in the pipes.

*Note: It does work best with coffee grounds that have not already been brewed (because they still have caffeine left in them), but if you are like me there are times you literally need to stretch every single dollar you have, then brewed grounds will work well too. If you choose to use previously brewed coffee grounds, make sure that you store them in your freezer so they don’t get moldy!

This scrub is so good for so many reasons. It helps to get your circulation flowing, is high in antioxidants, and will smooth and moisturize your skin. …And these are only a few of the benefits you will see from this scrub! They also say (whoever THEY are?!) that the caffeine in the coffee can actually help with cellulite.. and who in their right mind doesn’t want some extra help with that?! Am I right?!.. Plus, I always love the smell of coffee and sugar in the morning! Is there a better way to wake up by then smothering yourself in caffeine and sugar?!.. Nope.. didn’t think so!

I hope you enjoy this scrub as much as I do! Let me know how it goes! I would love to hear how you are all making out scrubbing away the winter blues!

Coffee & Brown Sugar Body Scrub:
1 Cup – Coconut oil (organic!)
1 Cup – Coffee grounds (you can use more or less depending on how “scrubby” you prefer!)
1/2 Cup – Brown sugar (you can also use raw sugar)

That’s it! That’s all! 3 easy ingredients for soft, smooth skin!
